Biography

Stella Hwaeun Song is a violinist by Seoul National University Professor Yang, Hae-Yeop who symbolizes the first generation violinist of Korea. She grew up under the guidance of Professor Yang in her childhood and met Michael Gaiser, a German legendary musician, at the prestigious Robert Schumann Musikhochschule in Düssseldorf, Germany through the recommendation of Professor Yang.

Stella, who has won awards in all kinds of competitions in Korea, stood out under Professor Geiger, and she graduated from Konzertexamen as top ranked position. Upon graduation, she won the prestigious German competition Smoltz Bickenbach, and was praised by experts for having a very rich and warm tone.

Stella's performances were met with critical acclaim, and she quickly gained a reputation as a talented and dynamic performer. With this opportunity, she began to make her name known as the next generation of young artists in Europe. She performed as a soloist with the "George Enescu" Philharmonic Orchestra in Romania, the Brno Orchestra in Cezh, Besteinhaus in Germany, Partika Saal, and Kammermusik Saal, and finished the Luxemburg Festival, and Swiss Lugano Festival.

Despite her success, however, Stella remained humble and committed to her craft. She continued to practice and study tirelessly, striving to perfect her technique and expand her musical horizons. As a result, she worked for the Düssseldorf Symphony, Bochum Symphony, and Köln Philharmonic Orchestra, where she devoted herself to deep classical music. During her orchestra career, she was inspired by collaborations with world class cellist Mischa Maisky, violinist Sarah Chang, conductor Gustavo Dudamel, pianist Buchbinder, and Japanese conductor Kamioka, which led her to not give up her Soloist career.

In 2010, after returning to her hometown of Korea, she became a regular member of the Bucheon Philharmonic Orchestra, the highest level in Korea. She also remained deeply committed to teaching, and spent much of her time working with young musicians and helping them to develop their own skills. For that reason, she also worked as a violin performance instructor at Chongshin University and Jeju University. Despite her hectic schedule, she has performed four recitals at the Seoul Arts Center and the Sejong Art Center, where only the best Korean performers can stand on stage.

Currently, she is passionately engaged in performing chamber music as well as giving regular recitals and appearance as an assistant concertmaster on Symphonic stages throughout Ontario Philharmonic Orchestra.

Recently, she was invited by a German institution for the training of performers to serve as the top leader for professional guidance for international students in Asia and North America commencing from 2024.
